Ralph came to Canada in 1951 from Germany. He first became involved in photography because of his love for the Canadian wilderness.
Ralph is internationally known for his outstanding Nature photography and was honoured by the Photographic Society of America with a PSA Associate ship for his contribution to photography at the individual, national and international level and he is a diamond star exhibitor with over 800 acceptances in worldwide photographic competitions. He also had numerous exhibitions in Art Galleries, among them the Korkin Gallery, Moment in Time, Cedar Ridge Studio, York Fine Art Gallery, Baldwin Street Gallery and a two month showing at the Kortright Centre. More recently, together with his wife Margarete, a one month exhibit at the Aurora Art and Cultural Centre, The Aurora Library, the Southlake Health Care Centre, the Meaford Art Gallery, and the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival.
In 1979 and again in 2001 he was President of the Toronto Camera Club and was made an Honorary Live Member for his contribution to club activities. In addition Ralph is also a forty year member of the Toronto Focal Forum, a prestigious photographic print group.
His photographic travels over the years include both the Arctic and the Antarctic, but he has a special affinity for the deserts of the US South West and has contributed to several books on the area. Ralph’s photographs have been published in five of Key Porter’s ‘Birds of the World’ series and Discovery’s ‘Birds of Canada’ and many images in ‘Acadia to Yellowstone’ He also contributed to Freeman Patterson’s Book ‘The Last Wilderness’ and Lorraine Monk’s ‘Canada - Romancing the Land’. His photographs appeared in German publications by the WWF/Profutura, titled ‘Wisdom of the Wild’ and ‘Wonders of Land and Sea, The Weather we live with, and he contributed many images to Heinz Sielmann’s book “Expeditionen ins Tierreich”.
Periodicals that have used his photographs include ADAC Motorworld, Nature Photo, Terra, Camera Canada, Cottage Country, Halcyon and Photo Life.
In addition, Ralph together with his wife Margarete, operate “GALLERY 15516” to showcase “FINE PHOTOGRAPHIC ART”
